Top 5 difficulties | Kali Linux Installation With Bootable Pendrive

November 30, 2019

Hello, and welcome back to another blog. In our previous blog, we learned How To Install Kali Linux using Pendrive.
In this blog, I'm going to explain the Top 5 difficulties you can face with  Kali Linux installation using a thumb drive or Pendrive.

There are many errors with so many reasons, I will share the top 5 I've figured out for. We will talk about them and let you know the way to get them fixed. Let's jump into resolution.

Some time error starts with the beginning, while you try to download the software without knowing your operating system version. Make sure you should either download 32bit or 64bit software Power ISo with the Kali Linux ISO file. To check your PC version you simply need to go to my computer and press on properties. You will be able to locate your operating system version. If you download the correct version software that resolves, most of the errors. To download the Power ISO tool simple type "Power ISO official version" on google and hit enter, click on the very first link. the same for Kali Linux type Kali Linux official ISO. Press the first link, Here is the list of ISO you can choose and download.

The second error is, once you make a bootable Pendrive, Your system asks to formate it before you use it. Do not afraid of it. Let it be Do not formate it. It can erase the bootable files, a normal operating system could not read them. Bootable Pendrive is only for booting purposes. Your operating system will never recognize it as a usable partition.

The third error is, once the installation process gets completed, you decide to reuse the Pendrive as you were doing. So that you can store your personal files. For that, you need to formate the Pendrive in your
windows operating system. Like I'm doing. After formating it you will see some changes like it is not showing the actual capacity it should suppose to show. For that, we need to clean the disk using CMD and reallocate the space to the partition. In my case, it is an HP Flash drive with 16GB capacity. But my system is not showing it properly. Let us fix this.

Click the right or left windows key there in your keyboard or click on the windows icon and click on the search box and type CMD. Here it is. Hover on CMD and run it as administrator.
Type the commands I'm going to type-
disk part and hit enter, it will take some time
now type list disk and hit enter, here you have the list of disks plugged to your computer. This one is HP 16GB.
Now type select disk and enter its position from the above-given list. In my case, this is the number for HP Disk.
now type clean and hit enter It will take a few seconds to get completed.
Once it gets completed close the CMD.

Now press Windows key again and right-click on Computer or go to your desktop and select the My computer and click right-click on it now select manage. Now click  Check for Disk Management will be the left side of the screen. Click it and now you will be able to see the black space disk. Black color denotes the Unallocated drive. Right-click on the black space and select the New Simple Volume... now hit the next button make sure you should assign the default path provided by the operating system now click next wait until the process gets completed. If you don't provide the default letter may be your Power ISO will fail to detect the pen drive to make it bootable. Now you will be able to see the actual size of your disk.

Okay now move to the 4th error. After the installation, Your Kali Linux is not able to save the files in persistence mode. It does not have any permission to save any file like .txt or videos you want from the internet. This error can be solved by following the proper installation process. For that Please follow this link. Where I've shared all the things step by step. You should make a bootable Pendrive after that boot it using Kali Live mode. Then open the terminal in Live mode and provide it propper commands to create the persistence.conf file. Than again reboot your Kali Linux and run it as persistence mode. It will work.

The fifth problem you can face is. The boot menu fails to detect the bootable Pendrive created by you. In this situation simply Create the bootable Pendrive with Power Iso once again and make sure you should know the version of your operating system then choose the software version and Kali Linux Iso Version. If you have cleaned the Pendrive using CMD make sure you should assign the default path provided by the operating system.
